Looks like those rumors of Sprint getting the HTC Hero in the fall are true. The FCC has given the HTC Hero approval for CDMA/EV-DO. This makes two Hero’s approved for the US. (Remember the FCC already approved one for AT&T’s network) So the real question is which one will come out first?

So when the HTC Hero came out its only major flaw was that at times it was extremely slow and hard to get around to the different screens. Well MoDaCo’s Paul was able to get a hold of the latest update and installed it on his Hero. And all we can say is WOW. Paul said that the new HTC ROM “takes the Hero to the next level”.
Can a US carrier please step up and bring this to the USA soon. Heck how about a US unlocked version. Click the link below for the video.

Phandroid was lucky enough to receive 4 non blurry pictures of the new Samsung InstinctQ which is running Android. The phone looks very nice and features a fully QWERTY keyboard along with a touch screen. The phone is rumored to hit Sprint in October or November. Could it be released the same day as HTC Hero? Looks like HTC has been reading all the reviews and complaints about the HTC Hero being a little slow at times. HTC has acknowledged that they are working a firmware update for the HTC Hero it could be out in a couple of weeks. HTC said in a statement to SlashGear that “HTC will be providing a software update for the HTC Hero, which will be available via the HTC website in the coming weeks.” If your lucky enough to have a Hero this is good news for you. Now how about a carrier finally bringing the Hero to the USA.

TomTom’s Navagation App has started to appear in different countries App Store’s starting with New Zealand. So based off the way the TomTom App is rolling out we expect it to hit the US App Store tomorrow. The App looks to cost anywhere from $85-$100. This price of course doesn’t include the mount that TomTom will be releaseing for the iPhone. If you currently don’t have a GPS in your car this is a pretty good deal.
UPDATE: TomTom’s Navigation App is now in the US App Store for $99

A new Palm Pre (P100UNA) has been approved by the Wi-Fi alliance and this isn’t a different version of the Pre for the Now network. This Palm Pre features GSM bands so it could work on AT&T, Rogers, or TELUS. Though we all know Sprint has bragged about it’s exclusivity of the Pre for at least all of 2009, it would be nice to get a GSM version of the Pre so we can unlock it. Hopefully by then the Pre will have a lot more apps.
